Zeus' story is one of those transformations that makes us incredibly proud. When he was found, he was thin, weak, and frightened. Today, he is almost impossible to recognise. Zeus has grown into a beautiful, affectionate, and wonderfully friendly boy who is often one of the first waiting at the gate to welcome new volunteers with a wagging tail.
Behind his impressive appearance is a true teddy bear. Zeus loves people, seeks affection, and could happily spend hours being cuddled and scratched. Being close to his humans is one of his favourite things - and he already knows that the best place to sleep might just be right next to them.
Zeus has shared rooms with volunteers at Hopeland and has even happily shared their beds. He is house-trained and already has experience living closely alongside people, giving him a wonderful foundation for life in a home.
He is also social with other dogs and gets along well with his canine companions. When meeting new people, Zeus is generally friendly and curious. Some men can initially make him a little unsure, but with a little time to get to know them, this hesitation usually fades and his affectionate personality comes through.
Zeus already walks well on a leash and loves going for walks. Afterwards, he is just as happy to enjoy the quieter side of life - preferably stretched out somewhere warm for a peaceful nap. He is intelligent, enjoys learning new things, and if treats are involved, you can be sure you have his full attention.
Zeus has Leishmaniasis, but currently shows no symptoms. Before travelling to his future home, he will of course be tested again for Mediterranean diseases, and his future family will receive all relevant information regarding his health and care.
Zeus already knows so much about being a wonderful companion: he is affectionate, house-trained, social with dogs, walks on a leash, loves people, and even knows what it's like to fall asleep beside them.
The only thing he doesn't know yet is what it feels like to wake up in a home that is truly his.
