Woo

Woo's story began high up in the mountains, where two mothers gave birth to seventeen puppies in the wild, hidden beneath thick bushes and far from safety. Thankfully, the little family was found in time and brought to Hopeland, giving Woo the chance to grow up protected and surrounded by people who care for him.

Woo is now fully grown and has developed into a wonderfully curious, sensitive boy. He is not naturally confident around people and may initially be unsure when meeting someone new. But there is one thing that often wins over his uncertainty: his curiosity.

Even when he isn't quite sure about you yet, Woo wants to know who you are. He may come closer to investigate, especially when treats are involved – food is definitely one of the easiest ways to get his attention. He isn't the kind of dog who will run straight into a stranger's arms asking for cuddles, but give him something far more important – consistency – and you begin to see a completely different side of him.

When Woo learns that you keep showing up, that you respect his boundaries, and that being around you means good things, he can build trust surprisingly well. And once that trust is there, the cautious observer turns into a little cuddle bear who genuinely enjoys affection and closeness.

Woo is very food-motivated, which can be a wonderful tool for positive training and building his confidence. He can occasionally show some protectiveness around food, so clear routines and responsible handling around feeding will remain important.

Life in a family home will still bring plenty of new experiences for Woo. Walking on a leash, indoor routines, unfamiliar places, sounds, and everyday family life will all need to be introduced patiently and positively. He doesn't need someone to push him into being brave – he needs people who will show him, again and again, that he is safe.

Now fully grown at around 20–23 kg, Woo is looking for people who understand that the quickest way to his heart isn't demanding his affection.

Show up. Be patient. Be kind. Be someone he can rely on.
And one day, you may realise that the cautious little dog who once wasn't sure about you has quietly become your very own cuddle bear.
