Samu

Samu came to Hopeland together with his two sisters after they were found frightened and alone in a small Greek village. Back then, the world was a scary place for him. But over time, with safety, patience, and positive experiences, Samu left those fears behind and blossomed into the wonderful dog he is today.

Samu is incredibly people-oriented and has a very gentle, affectionate nature. He loves being stroked and cuddled, but he never demands attention. Instead, he has this wonderfully sweet way of quietly approaching when he feels like being close, simply settling beside you and enjoying the moment. His calm and loving presence makes spending time with him incredibly easy.

He has grown up surrounded by many other dogs at Hopeland and is very well socialized with his canine companions. Samu is also an experienced walker and regularly enjoys going out on the leash. Exploring beyond the shelter has become a normal and enjoyable part of his life. Passing cars can still make him a little unsure, so this is something his future family should continue working on patiently.

And when it comes to training, Samu has one particularly useful weakness: treats. He is very food-motivated, which makes positive training and building new routines together that much easier.

At around 60 cm and 30 kg, Samu may be a big boy, but there is something wonderfully soft and humble about him. He doesn't push himself into the spotlight or demand to be noticed – and perhaps that is exactly why he has been overlooked for far too long.

Samu has spent so much of his life at Hopeland. He knows affection, walks, canine friendship, and the love of the volunteers. What he still doesn't know is what it feels like to have his own people, his own home, and his own place to belong.

He has so much love to give, quietly and wholeheartedly.
Maybe it's finally time for someone to choose Samu – and never overlook him again.
