Ra was found near the stadium in Souroti—alone, abandoned, and left to fend for himself. The deep marks around his neck told a silent story: he had once worn a heavy collar, a painful reminder that he had belonged to someone, but had never truly been loved.

This beautiful boy is a large mixed breed, standing about 60 cm tall.
When he first arrived at the safety of Hopeland, he showed signs of lameness in one of his hind legs. We immediately took him for hip and knee X-rays.

Radiology revealed mild dysplasia on the right side, right now he thankfully shows no problems. With time, freedom to move, and proper care, Ra has made a remarkable recovery. His gait is now strong, he shows no signs of pain, and he runs, walks, and plays with ease.

While surgery is not currently needed, a follow-up X-ray after one year is recommended to assess his full growth and determine whether supplements or other interventions might be necessary at that stage. Like many large-breed dogs, Ra will benefit from staying lean, regular gentle exercise, and possibly joint supplements such as glucosamine, chondroitin, or omega-3s.

We believe his early lameness was due to muscle stiffness or weakness from past confinement—and now that he’s free to move, his body is adapting beautifully. Ra is active, joyful, and thriving. With just a bit of thoughtful care, he can live a full and happy life.

Despite everything he’s been through, Ra hasn’t lost his faith in people. He is a gentle, friendly dog with a deeply lovable nature. He enjoys human company, adores playtime—especially with other dogs—and truly shines in social settings.

Ra is ready for his second chance. He’s searching for a safe place, kind people, and someone who sees him for who he really is: loyal, warm-hearted, and full of potential.

Could you be the one to show him just how beautiful life in a loving home can be?
