Poppy

Poppy's story began high up in the mountains, where two mothers gave birth to seventeen puppies in the wild, hidden beneath thick bushes and far from safety. Thankfully, the little family was found and brought to Hopeland, where Poppy has been able to grow up protected and surrounded by people and other dogs.

Poppy is a sensitive and thoughtful girl who likes to take a little time when meeting new people. At first, she can be unsure and prefers to observe before deciding that someone is safe. But Poppy has something very important on her side: her curiosity. Even when she is still cautious, she often finds the courage to approach and find out more.

With patience, consistency, and people who respect her pace, Poppy can build a beautiful bond. Once she understands that she has nothing to fear, a completely different side of her begins to appear. She becomes affectionate, enjoys being stroked, and shows her playful, cheeky personality. She has even started giving the volunteers little kisses and absolutely loves receiving attention from them. One of her sweetest little ways of showing affection is gently nibbling on your fingers or trying to invite you to play. 

Poppy tends to find it easier to connect with people in a calm and familiar environment. When there is lots of space to run, play, and explore, she naturally has plenty of other exciting things on her mind. What matters is giving her the opportunity to come closer in her own time rather than expecting affection immediately.

She gets along very well with other dogs and is used to sharing her everyday life with a large canine group. And treats certainly help too – they are a wonderful way to make new experiences positive and show Poppy that spending time with people can be pretty great.

Poppy is now fully grown at around 20 kg.
She may need a little time before showing you everything she has to offer. But underneath that initial uncertainty is a sweet, playful, affectionate girl who simply needs to know that she can trust you.
