Kira

Looking at Kira today, it is almost impossible to imagine how difficult her life once was.

Before coming to Hopeland, Kira lived in a municipal shelter and was in a heartbreaking condition. She arrived carrying the visible signs of everything she had been through – but what followed was an incredible transformation. With proper care, safety, and plenty of love, Kira blossomed into the happy girl we know today. Apart from a few scars, you would hardly believe she was ever the same dog.

Because today's Kira absolutely loves life.
She is playful, funny, affectionate, and incredibly people-oriented. She adores attention and could happily spend all day being scratched and cuddled by the volunteers. She loves being close to people, joining in with whatever is happening, and making everyone around her smile with her cheerful personality.

Kira also enjoys playing with other dogs and is social with her canine friends. And she already brings some very useful skills for her future home: she is house-trained, lives indoors, knows how to walk on a leash, and is used to sharing everyday life with people.

Kira has Leishmaniasis, which is currently very well controlled. She shows no symptoms, her kidneys are healthy, and the disease has not caused any other known complications. Before travelling to her forever home, she will of course be tested again for Mediterranean diseases, and her future family will receive all relevant information about her health and care.

Kira has already left the hardest part of her story behind her. She doesn't need anyone to feel sorry for her – she simply needs someone to see the wonderful dog she has become.

A girl who loves to play. Who loves to cuddle. Who loves people. And who is more than ready to finally have people of her own.
